We are a group of friendly and enthusiastic amateur historians who meet every 1st Monday  of the month at 10am, usually in  members’ homes,  although we do occasionally visit  somewhere relevant to our current topic.  We research within Leatherhead and the surrounding areas.  The  subjects we explore are chosen by the group.  In the past we have delved into Churches,  Manor houses, Road names and a comparison of Leatherhead High street shops between 1900 and 2000 to name but a few.   To view our previous research please follow this link.

Currently our research is into Railway stations, with each member taking one of the local stations to find out about.  We will see when they were built and by whom?  How was the land required and who were the many different railway companies?  The detail is endless, how was the population effected and what change was there to job opportunities?  There are many railway acts, which one member is investigating.  As you can see we  dig right in.
